Gently rock the toner from side to side five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.ġ0. Clean off these pieces with a soft lint-free dry cloth.ĩ. While facing the drum and toner cartridge, on the right side of the drum you should see two small pieces of metal that look like staples aligned vertically and a metal rod protruding from the side. Return the green tab to the home position before reinstalling the drum unit assembly.Ĩ. Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab located the top of the drum unit, from left to right several times. We recommend the customer place the toner and drum assembly on a piece of paper in case they accidentally spill or scatter toner.ħ. Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner assembly.
If the print quality is still faint, go to Step 6.Ħ. If the print quality is good, the issue is resolved.
Press Cancel to exit the current menu and then press the OK button three times to print the Printer Settings. If the Toner Save mode is already set to off, go to Step 6.ĥ. If the Toner Save mode is set to on, press ▼ until "Off" appears and then press OK. Make sure that Toner Save mode is not on:Ī. If the print is faint but not blurry at all, go to Step 4.Ĥ. If print is smeared, shadowed, blurry or fuzzy, go to WARRANTY AND SERVICE OPTIONS. Verify if any of the print appears to have a shadow or to be smeared downwards. Closely examine the printed text and horizontal lines on each of the pages of the Printer Settings report. If the print quality is bad on the Printer Settings pages, go to Step 3.ģ. Examine the print quality on each of the printed pages. Press the OK button three times to print the Printer Settings report. If the issue only occurs when printing on thick or special media, refer to the solution "Printing envelopes, labels or thick paper"Ģ. If the paper meets these specifications, go to Step 2. Verify the paper is plain, multi-purpose or recycled paper and the paper weight is 16 - 24 lb. Follow the steps below to improve faint, light for faded print quality:ġ.
